The Clay Diaries
dir. Isaki Lacuesta, with Miquel Barceló | Spain| 61 min| col | cert. G | In French with English subtitles
Isaki Lacuesta’s unusual work – always surprising, never repetitive – makes him one of Spain’s most interesting filmmakers. In this film, concurrent with his work on Los pasos dobles, Lacuesta looks at the work of artist Miquel Barceló. Barceló, originary from Majorca, has been spending long periods of time in Africa. There he learnt to paint between termites and scorpions. Lacuesta’s camera also follows Barceló’s performance with choreographer Josef Nadj of “Paso doble”. A unique opportunity to appreciate the work of two artists: Lacuesta behind the camera, Barceló in front of it.
Followed by a talk with the director and co-scriptwriter Isa Campo and Independent Curator Andrew Dempsey
